Why I Started Project Moon Cycle (and What I Hope It Becomes)

There’s something deeply personal about this project, and I want to share a bit of that with you.

It started with a conversation — one of those late-night ones where everything feels a little more raw and honest. I was talking with someone about the things we needed growing up but didn’t get. Not just emotional stuff — I’m talking about basics, like understanding our bodies, feeling safe to ask questions, and having access to things like pads and tampons without shame or secrecy.

And then it hit me: how many people are still going without?

No one should have to miss school or feel embarrassed or unsafe because of something as natural and powerful as a menstrual cycle. And no one should have to choose between food and period care.

That’s where Project Moon Cycle was born — from that ache in my chest that said someone has to do something, and a quiet little voice that followed up with …Why not you?

So Here We Go-

Project Moon Cycle is a grassroots mission to provide dignified, non-toxic, and thoughtfully curated menstrual care to girls, teens, and women who need it most.

No more oversized, chemical-laced pads that feel like diapers. No more mismatched tampons thrown into a bag without care.

Each item in our Moon Cycle Kits is chosen with intention — because when someone is struggling, they deserve more than just products. They deserve comfort, safety, and the dignity of knowing someone sees and cares for them.

Project Moon Cycle provides:

Pads & tampons that are actually safe for the body (non toxic, organic, eco friendly as often as possible.) A small bag in which to store and carry items. (Should this project grow as I hope, I envision girls returning to their original M.C.Kit source with their bag for their refill, this cuts down on waste and allows girls to choose what products they need)

Encouragement & empowerment — because menstruation isn’t something to hide or feel shame about

I am starting with local schools, shelters, and community partners — and growing from there. Slowly, intentionally, and with lots of heart.

Transparency Over Everything

Let’s be real: sometimes donating to a cause feels weird. You send money and hope it goes to the right place, but you’re never quite sure. Heck, I feel weird asking for donations.

So I did something different.

I made an Amazon registry with all the items we include in our kits. That way, you get to choose what you send — and those products come directly to us for assembly and distribution.

No question marks. No mystery. Just real supplies for real people.

What I Hope This Becomes

More than anything, I hope Project Moon Cycle becomes a space where people remember that care doesn’t have to be complicated.

It just has to be real.

It has to be felt.

And it has to be offered with open hands.

I’m not a big nonprofit or a polished organization with a boardroom full of people.

I’m just a woman with a vision, a good heart, and a lot of tampons in my Amazon cart.

But I believe with all my soul that small efforts — done with love, honesty, and community — can change everything.

Thanks for being here.

Thanks for caring.

Let’s build something beautiful.
